What type of cable do I need to connect the reader head to the Interface Board?

Every ievo fingerprint reader connects to the Interface Board via a bespoke PoE (Power over Ethernet) connection. The PoE connection carries both power and data.

Therefore, high-quality shielded Ethernet cable should be used for this connection in order to prevent possible power and data loss.

Every reader is provided with a 5-metre CAT6 SFTP (braid-shielded cable, foil-shielded pairs) Ethernet cable included as standard.

If the supplied cable cannot be used for any reason, follow this specification:
  1. Up to 50m: CAT5e/CAT6a SFTP stranded-conductor, with shielded RJ45 connectors
  2. Up to 100m: CAT5e/CAT6a SFTP solid-conductor, with shielded RJ45 connectors
NOTE: CAT7 specification cable is too thick for use with the ievo system due to the size limitation of the ievo ultimate fingerprint reader head.
