What is the difference between SIP and Secure SIP?

SIP is used to set up and manage calls between an intercom device and a phone system.

Standard SIP communication is not encrypted.

Secure SIP (TLS) adds a layer of encryption to protect the signalling between the intercom and the SIP server. It ensures that call setup data, such as credentials and session information, are encrypted.

This added security is especially important in high security environments such as banks, military premises, and government buildings. For any installation where data protection is a priority, Secure SIP delivers value-added benefits.

Robin intercoms are compatible with both SIP and Secure SIP configurations.

Alert
For full security including encryption of audio and video streams, you need to use SRTP, which is supported by Robin intercoms.
